The other night I went out to my first baile in panama, which is a big community party with live music, dancing, drinks and cockfights. Not a huge fan of watching roosters fight to the death no matter how muh i hate em. Was fun though, getting to see everyone ive met having fun and meeting more people, but no matter how good my spanish has gotten, drunk spanish is a whole new thing to understand haha. my favorite line was someone calling me "JAMES BOND! zero zero siete!" and the guy who only speaks in madeup sign languge after a few drinks. everyone wanted to buy the gringos drinks and we were getting shoutouts from the stage.. then they announced that EU beat panama 2 to 1 in futbol, /high five. eventually the generator went out and bottles started flyin, so the cops hopped in.. which was the cue to leave haha . no worries though, everyone claims that there are usually no drunken machete fights in the LB lol
lately i've been waking up with that feeling like im back home in my bed. im not homesick or anything, so im not sure why. maybe its bc all of these host families and i still dont have a real home base in town to call mine yet. anyway, the four of us newbs from cocle met our regional leader (RL) in Penonome for a tour of the city and agency visits. I feel like ive been here for so long since I came on saturday (not sure why haha) then back to LB for the baile at night, then came back sunday to stay 2 nights here. waking up in a hotel and using a hot shower feels like fantasy land compared to the last few months. especially when i walk out of an internet cafe i go "oh yea i'm still in panama".
My area is pretty sweet because even though my pictures everything look like i'm way the hell out there, compared to some of the others, i got it pretty good. ive got a bunch of cool people nearby, plus its super easy to get out of town when i need/want to. Either way, compared to the states.. were all way out there haha.
I could just keep blabbin, but i think this is all i got. quick shoutout to anyone that might be reading, mom dad greg michael (congrats on your internship), the mama and the papas, maria, all the other friends and family out there who probably dont make it past facebook but thats ok haha and mr. rosa
